Installing the
Accounting/Payroll Programs
1. To install the new programs, you will need to obtain a DOS prompt.
Insert the new program labeled
"ACCOUNTING/PAYROLL 3.1x -
DISK 1" in your floppy drive.
2. From the DOS prompt, change to the floppy drive which contains the
diskette. This will be either drive
A or drive B. For example, type: A: (Enter).
3. Type: INSTALL (Enter).
4. Tell the install procedure which drive and directory to install the
programs on. For most users the
drive
will be C and the directory will be \ACCOUNT
If you are on a network, the drive may be F or
G.
5. Insert DISK 2 and DISK 3 when prompted.
6. Exit the dos window.
Modifying
the system files
1. Edit the
config.nt file, (the file is normally in the Windows\System32 directory) locate
the line "files =
40" and
change it to "files=200"
2. Edit the
autoexec.nt file, (the file is normally in the Windows\System32 directory) add
the following line
to the beginning of the file "Set clasmooth=off"
Creating
shortcuts
1.Locate the file
Account.exe, point to the file, press the right mouse button, point to Send
To/Desktop as
Shortcut, press the left mouse button.
2.Repeat step 1 for
the Payroll.exe file.
Setting
the properties of the shortcuts
1. Go to the desktop and locate the Accounting shortcut
2. Point to the shortcut and press the right mouse button.
3. Point to "Properties" and press the left mouse button.
4. Point to the "Program" tab and press the left mouse button.
5. Place a check mark
in the box next to the line "Close on exit" by pointing to the box and
pressing the
left mouse button.
6. Point to the "Screen" tab and press the left mouse button.
7. In the "Usage" section select "Full screen"
8. Point to the "Misc" tab and press the left mouse button.
9.
In the
"Foreground" section confirm the "Allow screen saver" is not
selected, if the item is selected,
point to the box and press the left mouse
button.
10. Some systems will
have a "Layout" tab, if your system has a "Layout" tab
select the tab and set the
Screen Buffer Size/Width = 80, Height = 25.
Set the Windows Size/Width = 80, Height = 25.
11. Close the properties window.
12. Execute the Accounting icon, if the screen is not full size
or appears "scrunched ", minimize
the
program. The program should now appear on the taskbar. Point to the item on
the task bar and
press the right mouse button,
point to "Properties" and press the left mouse button. Select
the
"Layout" tab
and set the Screen Buffer Size/Width = 80, Height =
25. Set the Windows
Size/Width = 80, Height =
25.
13. Close the properties screen, tell the system to save the properties for future windows.
14. Select the
Accounting from the task bar, ( the screen will still be small) exit from the
accounting
program.
15. Select the Accounting Program from the desktop, the program should now be running in full screen.
16. Repeat steps 1-15 for the Payroll icon.
